My goal as an artist is to capture one’s attention immediately, to tell a story instantly….
North Carolina Artist Michael Baxter is regarded as an instinctive master of acrylics. He achieves strength, drama and richness of color in a medium not easily controlled. His masterful techniques and incredible black and white palette have been recognized as unique and interesting as his works have earned accolades throughout the New Orleans
Arts district.
Baxter was born in Elyria, Ohio in 1965 and has always been immersed in art. Talent courses through him via his bloodline. Both his Grandmother and Mother were accomplished oil painters. His interest in art was guided by this constant exposure, guidance and tutelage of his family. Frustrated by the “drying time” of oils, he took to this medium immediately. As acrylics gained popularity he grew his knowledge and abilities. Inspired by some of the artistic successes in the world of acrylics he was able to digest a myriad of techniques as they were first developed. As the world of this new medium exploded so did his intimacy with this incredibly diverse ever expanding exciting new universe.
With this latest venture, the resulting works manage to convey effortlessly the particular emotion of each subject. It is anticipated that his very personal vision and interpretation of these sensual subjects will appeal to his audience for years to come.
This was created in Illustrator. Decided to try out my Illustrating skills!
I think it turned out pretty cool and Im looking forward to seeing it as a print!

The colors in the photo are a bit skewed in that the color of the coat is not white as it appears, its a light gray. The background color is also darker, more of a butterscotch color and it shows. Overall the entire painting is darker. I will attempt better images and post them as soon as possible.
